Uturunku Summit Adventure


Embark on a thrilling Uturunku volcano tour, soaring to an awe-inspiring 6008 meters within the National Park. Day 1 starts with a warm welcome at Uyuni's transportation hubs, followed by breakfast and exploration of iconic sites like the Train Cemetery and Colchani Village. The day includes a mid-salar lunch, a visit to Incahuasi Island, and a mesmerizing sunset at the Salar's edge, concluding with a comfortable stay at the salt hotel. Day 2 features breakfast at the Salar's edge, leading to diverse experiences including quinoa fields, Chiuana Salt Flat, Ollague Viewpoint, and an overnight stay in a local hotel within the National Park.

Day 3 kicks off with an early departure for a vehicle ascent to 5650 meters, followed by an exhilarating climb up Uturunku volcano. After a midday break, the journey includes visits to high-altitude lagoons, abandoned borax mines, and geysers, concluding with a relaxing soak in the hotel's hot springs. The final day explores the Salvador Dali Desert, Laguna Verde, and borders crossings for those heading to San Pedro. For Uyuni-bound travelers, the itinerary includes stops for lunch, a visit to the Stone City, Anaconda Canyon, and the village of San Cristoval, providing a comprehensive exploration of Bolivia's natural wonders.

    Tour Details

    Day 1

    Pickup from Uyuni bus terminal or airport (Pickup from the terminal or airport and transfer to a café for breakfast, then start the tour between 10:30 and 11:00 am).

    Mid-salar lunch, photos from the midpoint perspective of the Salar, visit to Incahuasi Island, and a sunset on the Salar's shores with wine and snacks. Arrival at the salt hotel on the Salar's edge.

    Day 2

    7:30 am Breakfast at the hotel on the Salar's edge.

    • Laguna Cañapa (flamingo and vicuña sightings)
    • Laguna Hedionda with lunch in the area

    • Laguna Colorada (National Park)

    Arrival at a local hotel (in a village within the national park) between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

    Day 3

    Departure from the hotel at 7:00 am. Ascent to 5650 meters above sea level by vehicle, followed by the climb to the volcano (no climbing experience required).

    12:30 pm Lunch at the hotel. Visit to high-altitude lagoons with abandoned borax mines, geysers. Arrival at the hotel around 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm for enjoying hot springs.

    Day 4

    Places to Visit:

    • Salvador Dali Desert
    • Laguna Verde
    • Customs and migration crossing (Bolivia and Chile)
    • Arrival in San Pedro between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm (for tourists heading to Chile)

    For tourists returning to Uyuni after visiting Laguna Verde, the return trip includes stops for lunch, a visit to the Stone City, Anaconda Canyon, and the village of San Cristoval (for stretching legs and bathrooms).
